A Meakem Interview

By Claire Meakem

For the last nine weeks, I have had the privilege of working at FOREVER as a Digital Marketing Intern. While I spend most of my time creating and analyzing Facebook Ad tests, I believe that you can find some of my finest work on the FOREVER Twitter page with its recent influx of memes (go check them out!). Along with the awesome team at FOREVER, I have been working alongside my younger brother, Henry Meakem.

Although he is 15 months younger than me, Henry often feels like my twin, since we do much of life together or with him just one step behind me. As we both wrap up our internships, I sat down with Henry to talk about his experience at FOREVER this summer. Now, I'd like to share that interview with all of you!

Claire: What did you do for FOREVER this summer?

Henry: Among many things, I worked under our Vice President, Dr. Nathan Bowers, as a Product Management Intern, primarily assisting in our company-wide efforts to update and improve our Digital Conversion service offerings. In doing so, I worked alongside our incredible engineering, designing, and marketing teams to make the FOREVER Digital Conversion Experience simpler and more robust than ever before. It was really exciting to see the entire project come to fruition at FOREVER Live!

Claire: Last summer, you also worked at FOREVER but focused on writing the book, The Gift of FOREVER. How has this summer compared?

Henry: Last summer, I spent most of my time working independently when co-writing, editing, and managing the creation of The Gift of FOREVER. This summer, I was super fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with almost every single home office staff member while also interacting with many of our amazing ambassadors. Although co-writing a book with Dad was a pretty special experience, being a part of developing new services and products that help improve our clients’ ability to preserve and enjoy their memories was super rewarding.

Claire: What was it like working so closely with the home office and the Ambassadors?

Henry: It was a great experience! The people here are incredibly talented, mission-driven, and really care about protecting people’s memories. Both our Ambassadors’ and home office staff’s passion for growing FOREVER creates a really inspiring entrepreneurial spirit around the company that I love being a part of.

Claire: And with two summers under your belt, how do you like working with Dad?

Henry: I love learning from the example Dad sets as a leader every day. He is incredibly hardworking, selfless, and determined to make sure that we provide our clients with the best service possible. Working with him has taught me so much about what it means to lead a large group of people towards a common goal. Growing up, we were both so fortunate to have been raised by two amazing parents, and having the additional opportunity to learn even more from Dad, now in a business setting, has been very special.

Thank you to the FOREVER community for welcoming me and (welcoming back!) Henry this summer. We both learned a lot and look forward to visiting the office and possibly crashing any future FOREVER Live! events!
