Add a fun look to your pages using this technique. Your photos come to life on your page with the help of the cutting tools in Artisan. This is an advanced technique. Objective: Use the Wand tool, Custom cutter and/or the Erase tool to extract a specific area from your photo so it appears to protrude out of the photo frame.

Video Notes and Tips:

The Main Photo Section:

Add photo to page
- Cut> Shape and select the desired shape
  - (Flatten if prompted)
- Use the shape cutter to select the main section of your photo
- COPY the desired area (DO NOT CUT)
  - This area is considered "the photo"

The Pop Out Section:

Select the original photo
- Cut> Custom> Cut out straight path
  - (Flatten if prompted)
- Select the area that you want to pop out from the photo plus a portion of the pop out that overlaps the photo
- Keep the appropriate area and Cut
- Optional photo mat and shadows
  - If photo is square/rectangular, go to the Quick Access Toolbar> Stroke
    - Increase the Stroke size as desired
    - Fill Stroke as desired
  - If photo is any shape other than a square/rectangle
    - Insert> Outliner
    - Position the Outliner shape under the photo
    - With Outliner shape selected, go to Quick Access Tool bar> Stroke
      - Increase Stroke size as desired
      - Fill Stroke as desired
  - Format> Shadows> Custom and apply a shadow to photo
    - This step can be done with or without a stroke
Select the pop out
- Determine which cutting tool works best for you: Wand, Custom cutter, Erase tool, or any combination of the three.
  - Tips:
    - When using the Custom cutter zoom in to get a better view. Imperfections will show minimally when you zoom back out to normal size.
- Optional: Format> Shadows> Custom and apply a custom shadow
  - To remove harsh shadow/lines
    - Right click> Flatten
    - Touch up> Erase, select the soft brush and erase affected areas
Select all layers (photo, pop out and Outliner shape)
- Right click> Group
