Use shapes, lines and the straight edge cutter to create the illusion that elements on your pages are tucked into slits of paper. **Objective:** Use the Straight edge cutter with precise angles, the Soften edge filter, and shapes to create the illusion of tucked elements.

It will be very helpful to zoom in to get a close view of the elements you are working with.

Insert> Other> Line> Straight line or path
- Add two points to the page to create a short segment
- In the Operations panel, click “Complete this figure”
- Use the sizing handles to make the line flat ensuring a straight line
- Click Create
Insert> Content> Shape> Ellipse
- Remove the stroke
- Fill with black
- Size to create a flat oval slightly shorter than the line.
- Click Create
With the oval selected, go to Filter> Filters> Edge> Soften Edge
- Adjust the softness so the oval looks like a shadow (127 is used in the sample)
- Click OK
Use the alignment helpers to center the oval with the line
Select the oval and the line, right click> Flatten
Add photo, paper or other element to your page and position
- Make any desired edits at this time
  - Zoom in and position photo in frame
  - Add any desired shadows
  - Add any strokes or photo mats
  - Right click and flatten the photo
- Position the line with oval over one corner of the photo/element
  - Right click> Properties
  - Adjust the angle as desired
    - (-45 degrees is used in the sample)
  - Click OK
  - Copy and paste the line with oval
  - Position the copy opposite the original
- Select the photo/element and one line
  - Go to Cut> Cutters> Straight> Straight Edge
  - Set the angle of the cutter to match the angle of the line with the oval
    - (In this sample 45 degrees matches the -45 degrees of the line)
  - Make sure the shaded area is going away from the photo/element
  - Position the cutter so that only a small sliver of the line closest to the photo is visible
    - Be sure to zoom in for a good view
    - It is important that this line is left as thin a possible for a realistic look
  - Keep the unshaded area and Cut
  - Repeat for the copied line with the oval
- Group the lines and photo/element together before resizing and positioning on your page.
